[9] See Nikola Tesla, "Pioneer Radio Engineer Gives Views
on Power," New York Herald Tribune, Sep. 11, 1932. Quoting:
"...I showed that the universal medium is a gaseous body in
which only longitudinal pulses can be propagated, involving
alternating compressions and expansions similar to those
produced by sound waves in the air. Thus, a wireless
transmitter does not emit Hertz waves which are a myth, but
sound waves in the ether, behaving in every respect like
those in the air, except that, owing to the great elastic
force and extremely small density of the medium, their speed
is that of light." Today the QM vacuum has been
theoretically and experimentally shown to consist of a "gas"
of virtual particles, rather like Tesla stated. Tesla was
also correct about the longitudinal EM wave in the vacuum.
He was also correct in his statement that a fundamental
charged particle can alter its charge, if one considers the
massless charge ~ of charge q separately from the mass m of
charge q. When the charge q is placed in a nonzero
potential V, it follows that the new charge of the electron
is simply (~+V).
